about

The 'crashes' part (song 1 - 9) is about the failure of the body, the mind and by extension society. The 'crushes' part (song 10 - 17), on the other hand, is about relationships and interactions between people. Crashes and crushes is perhaps the duo's most personal album that has not been spared in their private lives in recent years. Once again, the duo is working for a number of songs with Mick Shorter. The only cover on the album was sung by the wonderful Anne Mehaignoul.

It will also be the last album of The river curls around the town for the time being. In the future, the duo wants to focus on Dutch-language work under the name 'De Rivier'. The band members certainly do not exclude that they will pick up the English-language thread again in a distant future. Time will tell. In the meantime, we hope that you will enjoy this music as much we enjoyed composing it.

about

The river curls around the town Tienen, Belgium

An elegant and mysterious mix of electronics and smooth pop, modest and groovy at the same time ... is the best description for the musical project of Bart Bekker and Jan Vanwinckel. These guys are best known as key figures of the rock band Gudinöv, but in between they are working on tracks for their studio project The river curls around the town. ... more
